This project aims to further understanding of how prehistoric people lived in Italy at the end of the Ice Age before the prevalence of farming. Using high-precision dating methods, researchers will calculate the age of occupation layers in cave sites and identify the animals hunted by people in that era and locale. The results will be used to evaluate whether prehistoric people followed herds of animals or remained more rooted, relying more heavily on small animals, fish and plants for food.
