Strathclyde University is offering scholarships to pupils in the most deprived areas of Glasgow, starting next session. The university has set up links with a number of secondary schools in areas such as Easterhouse and Drumchapel to support able students who would find it difficult to go to university without extra funds. Five students will win annual Pounds 700 scholarships for each of the four years of their course, while another five will receive one-off scholarships of Pounds 500.
