Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh and Stirling universities will share Pounds 128,000 extra funding following "excellent" ratings in the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council's latest quality assessment round. There were five excellent, 26 highly satisfactory and ten satisfactory ratings in the 41 assessments, covering finance and accounting, social work, theology and religious studies, philosophy, law and legal studies. Institutions with an excellent rating win 5 per cent more funded places in the subject, converted into an extra SHEFC grant allocation.
