The British Library has remodelled its research and development department as a national centre for analytical research utilising the latest online computer technology.
The library has restyled its old research and development department the Research and Innovation Centre reflecting a shift towards its new role as an "interchange" for research on funding, development and innovation for information and library services. The centre will promote coordination and cooperation among other bodies, such as the Higher Education Funding Councils, and will also support a programme of research evaluation, synthesis and awareness-raising aimed at disseminating information primarily to policymakers, senior managers and information professionals.
The image change also involves a revamped RIC home page on the World Wide Web (http:// portico.bl.uk/ric/) which will allow users access to online information on library and information systems-related research programmes and awards available.
