Lord Lindsay, Scottish Office minister for agriculture, environment and forestry, has launched the first degree course for the University of the Highlands and Islands project, a BSc in rural development offered by Lews Castle College in Stornoway and validated by Aberdeen University. The project uses new technology to support distance learning.
