UKCOSA

Clive Saville has succeeded Maeve Sherlock as chief executive of the Council for International Education. He joins UKCOSA after more than 30 years in the Department for Education and Employment, where his responsibilities have included the national curriculum, international relations and aspects of higher education policy and funding.

University of Central England in Birmingham

Ray McCafferty, former associate dean at Wolverhampton University, has been appointed head of the school for mechanical and manufacturing engineering; Adrian Cole, senior academic, former head of Powertrain & Emissions Technology at the Motor Industry Research Association.

Chartered Institute of Marketing

David Sagar, former head of Aberdeen Business school at Robert Gordon University, has been appointed director of education.

The Green Party

Mike Woodin, lecturer in psychology at Balliol College, Oxford, has been elected principal speaker.

West Nottinghamshire College

Gerald Bowers, former senior lecturer in management at Nottingham Trent University, has been appointed head of the University Centre of Mansfield, which will draw on staff resources at the college and Nottingham University.

Royal Holloway, University of London

Robin McLaren, ambassador to the People's Republic of China (1991-94), has been appointed a member of the college's council for a five-year term; John Lowe, professor in the geography department, has been elected dean of science.
