ASTON UNIVERSITY Edward Feigenbaum, chief scientist of the United States Air Force and professor of computer science at Stanford University, has been appointed to a visiting professorship.
CHELTENHAM AND GLOUCESTER COLLEGE OF HIGHER EDUCATION Michael Dower, former chief of the Countryside Commission, has been appointed visiting professor of the countryside and community research unit. Tony Charlton, senior lecturer, has been appointed as professor of behavioural studies in the department of professional education.
ROYAL POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL SCHOOL Simon Thompson, former reader in medical statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has been appointed as the first professor of medical statistics and epidemiology and chairman in the new department of medical statistics and evaluation.
