The following have been appointed board directors: Ray Baker, chairman, Fife College board of management; Michael Webster, principal, Perth College; James Thomson, chairman, Clackmannan College board of management; James Neil, principal, Dumfries and Galloway College; Iain Ovens, principal, Angus College; Ian Muir, chairman, Jewel & Esk Valley College board of management; James Ewing, chairman, Glasgow College of Food Technology board of management; Alistair Tyre, principal, Langside College; William Greenock, chairman, Clydebank College; Robert Kay, chairman, Borders College board of management; Craig Brown, principal of Dundee College; Douglas Harrison, chairman, Stow College board of management.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA AT NEWCASTLE

Cheryl Penna, head of administration at University College, Stockton-on-Tees, has been appointed academic registrar.

UNIVERSITY OF DURHAM

The university has appointed two co-directors for a cross-disciplinary Research Institute for the Study of Change: Deborah Lavin, principal of Trevelyan College; John Drew, visiting professor in business management.
