REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS. The University of Hertfordshire will host a conference on Refugees and Asylum Seekers and Resettlement: The Context of Higher Education on July 21-23. Themes include: understanding the experiences of refugees/asylum seekers; facilitating access to higher education; progressing in higher education; education and employment; cultural and conceptual differences; role of the providers.

THEORETICAL INITIATIVES. On July 22-24 the Annual Conference on Critical Realism, the Sciences and Emancipation will be held at the University of East London. A SUMMER FEAST. Tthe Peter Scott Gallery will be showing work , with a particular emphasis on artists from the north of England, until August 11. These include: Prunella Clough, Terry Frost, Kitty North, Marjan Wouda, Adrienne Craddock and Phil Morsman. Also showing will be other contemporary artists from outside the region including John Bellany, Peter Howson, Amanda Faulkner. The exhibition will be closed on July 10, 11 and 12 for degree ceremonies.

ROUTES TO QUALITY. "Routes to Quality", a conference for those involved with libraries and information services will be held on August 29-31 at Bournemouth University's Talbot Campus.
