I have noticed another odd thing about the University of Poppleton ("Rare cite", Letters, 30 August): it is never listed in the Index of universities at the back of THE - not even when it is mentioned in the body of the magazine itself.
Surely Jamie Targett, Poppleton's thrusting director of corporate affairs, should be insisting that Poppleton is regularly listed along with all the other similarly august institutions? (Even if this does mean - another curious thing - that almost all of these references would normally be to the same page as the Index itself.)
If you carry on like this, some people are going to start to think that Poppleton does not actually exist.
