About the opportunity

The Faculty of Science is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Stochastic Partial Differential Equations to join the research team based at the Schools of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney. The incumbent will have expertise either in stochastic analysis or partial differential equation, ideally in both.

The aim of this project is to develop innovative mathematical theory and numerical algorithms for solutions of stochastic partial differential equations that describe properties of magnetization in ferromagnetic materials. The mathematical toolset will include methods from stochastic analysis, partial differential equations, multiscale analysis and the theory of dynamical systems.

The technology of magnetic memories is grounded in the theory of strongly nonlinear systems of partial differential equations closely related to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation and to the so-called heat flow for sphere-valued harmonic maps. Solutions of such a system of equations develop singularities such as vortices skyrmions and hopfions that are expected to lead to new types of magnetic memories operating in nano-scales. In such scales random fluctuations can modify behaviour of solutions hence the aforementioned equations must be modified to include random terms.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	work closely with the research team to realise the aims of the ARC Discovery Project ``Mathematics for future magnetic devices''
	conduct research on stochastic PDEs and their singularities, and their dynamics and stability under the influence of noise
	participate in supervision of PhD students working on topics related to the project
	present findings of the group at local and international meetings and at research seminars
	contribute to preparation of research publications.


About you

	a PHD in Mathematics (or close to completing)

	published research as sole author or in collaboration
	excellent written and verbal communication skills
	the ability to supervise students at undergraduate level.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a restructured Maintenance Services team at the University of Surrey in Guildford. Working as part of an in-house services team of 40+ you will be assisting the Stores Manger in the day to day running and facilitating the seamless continuation of service. The post will be required to support our current day pattern of 08.00 – 16.12 Monday to Friday, and may be required to support out of hours rotas as required by the Stores Manger to ensure operational effectiveness and business continuity.

Reporting to the Stores Manager the post will be responsible for services that will include: -


	Delivering an effective operational stores function and support of the Stores manager.
	Ensuring sufficient stocks are available in order that maintenance works can be undertaken in an efficient and cost-effective manner in both the main and off-site satellite stores that come under the control of the E&FM department. This includes maintenance stock, large/small white goods, cleaning consumables, chemicals and janitorial equipment, tools, safety equipment, PPE, uniform, radiators, and ladders
	A good knowledge of maintenance.
	A good level of customer service and the ability to switch tasks seamlessly and Prioritization of tasks and managing lead times.
	Product knowledge to provide solutions to the operational staff and other customers
	Ensuring that vital products are received, to ensure that operational deadlines are met.
	Ensuring that all tools and vital equipment, used by the operational staff, including ladders radiators and other expensive equipment are fully maintained/calibrated, safely stored and meet all health and safety protocols
	Raising requisition orders for both stock and non-stock items
	Processing sales transaction (invoice payments)
	Receiving and verifying the quality and quantity of deliveries
	Receipting goods via Finance system
	Monthly and Annual Stocktakes to meet the University’s Finance Regulations
	Supporting multi trade disciplines and finding alternative products when needed
	Opening and Closing the stores in periods of Leave/absence of the Stores Manager 
	Good Communication and people skills both verbally and electronically to both internal staff and with external suppliers.
	COSHH/Risk Assessments/Health and Safety
	Value for money, obtaining/negotiating the best possible prices for non-stock and stock products via the university preferred suppliers or other suitable sources (cheaper alternatives)


Willingness to undertake training in other trade disciplines (where appropriate/required)

About you

	A PhD/Professional Doctorate in Education, neuroscience, or a related discipline, along with an initial teacher education qualification. NSW Teacher Accreditation, Queensland Teacher Registration and/or equivalent state/territory registration will be highly regarded.
	Proven excellence in teaching brain and learning, neuroscience, and education within a university setting.
	A strong research track record, including publications in top-quartile journals, grant success, and HDR supervision.
	Experience in leading curriculum design, developing innovative teaching resources, and using contemporary educational technologies.
	Demonstrated leadership in teaching, research, or community engagement within education and neuroscience.


Salary and benefits

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Executive Director, Property Services is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and managing RMIT's extensive property portfolio, spanning $2 billion in assets and over 540,000 square meters across metropolitan Melbourne.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to drive long-term master planning, enhance property operations, and build a high-performing leadership team within the Property Services Group (PSG). The successful candidate will work closely with the University Executive (UE) and key stakeholders to ensure RMIT's property and infrastructure strategy aligns with its long-term educational and commercial objectives.

Key Priorities


	Lead the development of RMIT's long-term master plan, ensuring alignment with the university's academic and strategic priorities.
	Engage and influence the UE to drive consensus on the future vision and use of RMIT's property assets.
	Ensure the PSG is structured and resourced effectively to provide world-class property management, capital works, and facilities services.
	Build a strong leadership team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture following a period of organisational change.
	Oversee a large, complex team (6-10 direct reports, 100+ staff) and optimise operations across teaching, research, commercial, and student living spaces.
	Strengthen strategic partnerships with developers, banks, and government entities to ensure the optimal development and utilisation of RMIT's property assets.
	Ensure financial sustainability, managing an annual operating budget of ~$80M and a variable capital expenditure budget of $50M-$150M.
	Support RMIT's growing operations in Vietnam, providing strategic property and infrastructure guidance.


To be successful in this role, you will bring:


	Proven experience in leading master planning and property strategy within large, complex environments such as universities, corporate real estate, or government.
	A strong track record in property leadership, overseeing facilities management, capital works, space planning, risk & compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
	Demonstrated experience in leading large teams and structuring high-performing property services teams.
	Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to align senior executives around a long-term strategic vision.
	Financial acumen, including experience managing multi-billion-dollar property portfolios and complex capital planning initiatives.
	The ability to drive contemporary property solutions, ensuring that RMIT's physical and digital infrastructure supports the university's ambitions.

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.

Research Associate (m/f/x)

The position comprises 60% of the full-time weekly hours and is limited to 18 months within the DFG project “Real time characterization of Infiltration processes: chemical interaction and TRAnsport in POLymers (INTRAPOL)”. Tasks: The successful candidate will carry out computer simulations on porous systems and investigate their physico-chemical properties.

Requirements: university and, if applicable, PhD degree in chemistry or physics and profound knowledge in computational and theoretical physics/ chemistry. Capability of team work and skills in high-performance computing, porous materials, adaptive multiscale methods, and density-functional theory are essential.
