POSITION OVERVIEW Department: Advanced Semiconductor Research Centre Position: Research Fellow Location: Suzhou, China Contract Type: Fixed-term, one term for 2 years ABOUT XJTLU In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. XJTLU now has over 25,000 enrolled students in both Suzhou and Liverpool in the UK，including more than 5,000 master’s and doctoral candidates. XJTLU maintains a full-time faculty of 1,400 professional teachers, with approximately 40% being international academic staff. All researchers hold doctoral degrees, and 90% possessed overseas work or educational experience before joining XJTLU. Students and faculty members originate from nearly 100 countries and regions, collectively fostering a dynamic and culturally diverse international community. XJTLU offers our undergraduates and postgraduates over 100 programmes with a diverse spectrum of courses. XJTLU is entering a new and exciting phase of its development as part of its strategic priorities for the next ten years. Adopting a new higher education model based on the concept of Syntegrative Education (SE), XJTLU is currently opening a new Entrepreneurial Education site in Taicang, part of wider Suzhou, where the Entrepreneur College (Taicang) is located. The Taicang site will be a pioneer of, and educational model for, the future campus in addressing challenges arising from the 4th Industrial Revolution. Other new initiatives include new working partnerships with Xi’an Jiaotong University, the continued development of the four new Academies, and exploration of further potential locations to develop the SE model. With a focus on innovative learning and teaching, and research, XJTLU draws on the strengths of its parent universities, and plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to China for UK and other institutional partners. ABOUT XJTLU Advanced Semiconductor Research Center  The XJTLU Advanced Semiconductor Research Center is jointly established by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and the National Third-Generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Centre (Suzhou). It focuses on advancing third-generation semiconductor power electronics and serves as a university-level research platform that spans campuses and schools. The research center is dedicated to wide-bandgap semiconductor power electronics and integrated technologies, aiming to look ahead, develop distinctive capabilities, and serve both industry and society. Driven by industry needs, the research center collaborates with the China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance (Beijing, CASA) to promote talent cultivation through the integration of advanced semiconductor production and education. Leveraging the strengths of XJTLU’s Sino-foreign cooperative education model, the center fosters collaboration among industries, universities, and research institutions at both domestic and international levels. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct research: Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results to advance the understanding of related research areas. Collaborate with team members: Work closely with faculty members, research staff, and other postdoctoral researchers to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing. Publication and dissemination: Prepare research manuscripts for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present findings at conferences and seminars. Grant proposal development: Develop grant proposals, including conducting literature reviews, preparing research plans, and contributing to budget justifications. Stay updated with research advances: Keep abreast of the latest research developments in the field and contribute to the intellectual environment of the research group through active participation in discussions and journal clubs. Compliance and safety: Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of research activities. Perform teaching work reasonably assigned. Supervise FYP/Msc/Mres for UG/PG students. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES A PhD in electrical engineering, electronic science and technology or a closely aligned area, with PG Cert HE or equivalent; Preferred research directions include Power Management IC, Power Devices, GaN HEMT, Radiation-Hardened IC, and Reliability Testing. Research experience at a university or equivalent after completion of PhD degree; Strong publications record in electron device such as EDL and above; Experience in presenting at top conferences such as ISPSD in the electrical and electronic engineering field. Experience in industry collaboration projects. Hands-on experience in cleanroom environments, including chip fabrication, testing, and familiarity with semiconductor equipment. Experience in securing research grants. Fluency in English. Professional memberships such as BCS, IET, ACM, IEEE, and HEA. CITIZENSHIP AND VISA REGULATIONS Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must comply with the regulations of the provincial government. Supported Areas for START - Health Sciences Diagnostic Radiography: Radiography involves the controlled use of ionising radiation, radioactive substances and non-ionising radiation to produce diagnostic quality images of the human body, facilitating the diagnosis and treatment of patients (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Dietetics: Dietetics involves the management of medical conditions and promotion of health through application of food and nutrition. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and implement specific diet strategies for chronic medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries (Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association). Nursing: Registered nurses render health services to individuals, families, and communities (Singapore Nursing Board Code for Nurses and Midwives 2018). Speech and Language Therapy: Speech and Language Therapy involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communication and swallowing disorders (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy involves assessment and interventions to work or school, self-care, leisure or play, physical environments as well as cognitive, mental and physical components of function to enable individuals affected by physical injury or illness, developmental or learning disabilities, psychosocial dysfunctions or the aging process, to engage in everyday life occupations in order to maximise independent performance of life roles, prevent disability and maintain health (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of pain, injury, or any other physical dysfunction, through the use of education, exercise, manual therapy, electro-physical agents, technology or any other treatment for those purposes (Allied Health Professions Act 2011).
