World University Rankings 2024 by subject: law

The law subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the discipline.

This year’s table includes 329 universities, up from 290 last year.

Harvard University climbs five places to lead the table this year, replacing Stanford University, which drops to second place.

Two other US institutions enter the top 10 this year: Columbia University in joint fourth place and the University of California, Berkeley in sixth.

Belgium’s Université Libre de Bruxelles leads the table’s newcomers in joint 77th place. Germany’s University of Münster and the UK’s SOAS University of London also join the list for the first time and are ranked in the top 100.

Apart from the US and UK, the most-represented countries in the top 100 are the Netherlands, Canada and Germany, with seven universities each.
