About JSJC:

As India’s first global media school, the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication provides a vibrant scholarly setting for the study of journalism, film and new media studies. We are hiring at all levels, including Associate Professors/ Assistant Professors who are willing to take up teaching and/or research assignment from Spring 2025.

Qualification & Experience:


	Ph.D. (or equivalent) journalism, mass communication, public relations or corporate communications or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
	Demonstrable experience of 5-7 years working in advertising, branding, marketing, creative strategy, campaign planning, PR and publicity or corporate communications in India or abroad and a track record of publishing in the field.

About the Role

As an Education Fellow in Construction, you will leverage your industry experience to support student learning in construction management and technology subjects, contributing to both undergraduate and graduate levels within the Bachelor of Design (construction pathway) and Master of Construction Management degrees. This part-time role allows for continued industry engagement while you develop your teaching expertise, working with senior academic staff and independently. You will be responsible for delivering engaging teaching, improving student outcomes, and contributing to curriculum development, while also engaging in professional development to enhance teaching practices.

Your responsibilities will include:


	Contributing to the delivery of core and elective teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate construction programs, including tutorials and site visits , and supporting curriculum and resource development.
	Directly involving in student assessment, providing feedback, and offering empathetic support and guidance to students, while engaging in professional development activities.
	Contributing to scholarly presentations and publications, supporting grant applications to advance teaching, and continuously improving teaching practices based on impact measures.
	Engaging in team collaboration, participating in committees, and supporting University initiatives to enhance teaching quality, while adhering to University policies and fostering a safe, inclusive workplace.


Who we are looking for

You will be a self-motivated individual with excellent planning and organisational skills, capable of working autonomously to meet deadlines. You will also possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to upholding the University’s standards of behaviour and contributing to a safe, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

You will also have:


	A PhD or Masters degree in a built environment discipline.
	A minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry, within commercial and/or domestic sectors.
	Demonstrated teaching experience in construction, with the ability to educate, inspire, and support students as part of a team.
	Expertise in construction methodology, building materials, procurement routes, and relevant regulations, particularly in commercial construction.

	1-3 years of software engineering experience.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified Phd/MSc engineer with practical experience in delivery of advanced geomaterials/materials science or engineering characterization and analysis programs. Experience in working on CT-based geo-material science applications is highly desirable. The person should have experience in project management of scientific or research projects, involving detailed planning and delivery of project proposals and other documents related to project management and delivery. A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organizational skills and effective self-management are key.

The Nonlinear Systems and Control group (https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-electrical-engineering-and-automation/nonlinear-systems-and-control) at Aalto University explores synergies between nonlinear control theory and physics informed machine learning to provide formal guarantees on performance, safety, and robustness of robotic and learning-enabled systems. The research group is seeking a talented PhD student with strong interest in nonlinear stability theory, modeling & identification, optimal control, certifiably safe & robust control, and learning for dynamics & control.

The main task of the PhD student will be to develop sound data-driven methodologies for learning control policies with provable guarantees on performance and safety, for example, through the efficient computation of Lyapunov and barrier functions, forward and backward reachable sets, optimal value functions etc. The broad goal is to build upon recent developments in learning Operator Theoretic representations of dynamical systems that focus on model interpretability, scalability to high dimensions, and data efficiency. The exact direction of the research is chosen depending on your experience and interests. Please relate clearly to some of the research topics in your Letter of Motivation.

Outstanding researchers from the areas of Control Engineering, Robotics, Machine Learning, AI, and related areas including Optimization, Mathematics and Physics are welcome to apply.
