The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. An important part of the role will be to teach students in Chemical and Environmental Engineering degree. Candidates should be qualified to deliver courses in the core curriculum of a Chemical and Environmental Engineering programme.

The person appointed will also be expected to conduct ongoing original research for publication and play a lead role in collaborative research projects The purpose of this role will be to lead and deliver individual and collaborative research and teaching in the area of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and make a contribution to the direction of research programmes in the Department/School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, and excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Knowledge and experience of industrial design and process safety are desirable. Experience of supervising student research up to the PhD level, and experience of teaching, tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in an English speaking institution are essential.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 439,794 to RMB 579,126 per annum, depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years starting October 2024 or as soon as thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.

About the Role

This position will be employed as part of the newly awarded ARC Linkage grant, titled "Secure Management of Internet of Things Data for Critical Surveillance," with RMR Process Pty Ltd as the industry partner. This position will primarily be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing sensing, monitoring, and information systems for industry applications. While a PhD degree is not required, this position should have industry experience in integrating sensing, secure networking, data management, and data visualisation systems and a good understanding of industry needs. Extensive publications are not necessary, but a few in reputable venues (e.g., A* conferences/journals) are desirable.

About You

Essential criteria


	Industry Experience: Demonstrated industry experience in managing, building, and testing large-scale distributed computing systems (e.g. Edge, IoT, I4.0), evidenced by involvement in several industry projects.
	Technical Experience:  exposure to Python, JavaScript, Node-Red, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or equivalent, knowledge of AWS and other cloud technologies, knowledge of PostgreSQL, Grafana, and other database and dashboard systems, knowledge of MQTT, OPC UA and other industrial communication protocols, basic electronics and sensor integration.
	Work Ethic: A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a broader team, including collaboration with industrial partners.
	Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills suitable for interacting with higher-degree research candidates, staff, and industry partners, coupled with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.


Desirable criteria


	Research Experience: Proven research experience in sensor networks or I4.0 systems, demonstrated by a few top-tier publications. The candidate should have minimal publications in lower-rate conferences and journals, with preference for A*-rated venues.
	Research Track Record: An emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in sensing, information, and data management systems, including developing new research initiatives, securing competitive research funding, and establishing industry links.


Qualifications: An undergraduate/postgraduate in Computer Science/Engineering related field is desirable

General Requirements

The Business Psychology Programme is looking for a full-time instructor to teach undergraduate psychology courses. The appointee is expected to teach a broad range of subjects for the programme, including Negotiation, Judgement, and Decision Making in Organizations, Introduction to Consumer Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Psychological Testing and Assessment, etc. The appointee will have to provide support to the operation of the Programme, including programme promotion and student recruitment.

Applicants should have a PhD Degree in relevant fields in Psychology. Relevant experience in teaching courses related to work and organizational psychology, research methods and statistics is highly preferred.

Lingnan University

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an applied research project as a part of Infocomm Technology cluster at SIT. In this role, you will be part of the research team, working to develop and evaluate privacy-preserved Generative AI algorithms for generating synthetic Personal Identity Information (PII). This aims to overcome the issues raised by using real-world PII data.

Key Responsibilities:


	Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Design a Natural Language Processing algorithm for identifying Personal Identity Information data.
	Design and evaluate privacy preserved Generative AI-based algorithm for generating synthetic data.
	Validate integrated system functionality and performance.
	Help produce progress reports and technical papers on research work.
	Ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Assist in project resource requirements and managing student projects.


Job Requirements:


	Have a PhD Degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
	Have relevant research/industry experience in Machine Learning, AI and Privacy.
	An excellent team player who can cope with an agile and fast-paced environment.
	Good communication and interpersonal skills.
	Possess relevant hands-on experience in Python, Java, C++ etc. and corresponding development environments.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with a proven track record in digital communications, with skillsets in the following areas:


	Development of high-quality mixed-mode digital content that is innovative and engaging for a student audience.
	Management of StrathApp digital communication channels e.g., PUSH notifications, promotions, stories
	Stakeholder engagement and onboarding for the continuous improvement and innovation of digital communications for large-scale IT systems, including the Mobile App Development Service and its ecosystem of apps.
	Elicitation of requirements through stakeholder engagement activities to ensure powerful customer voice in technical documentation for developers. Experience of Agile development methods would be highly advantageous.
	Marketing and events management, including agile planning groups and student co-creation teaching activities.


As the team’s Digital Communication Officer, you will have a proven track record of working efficiently and effectively, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to identify gaps and enhance services for IT systems users.

You will assess and interpret patterns of user communication and engagement to highlight opportunities for enhancement of IT services and systems. You will ensure the smooth running of communications for the Mobile App Development Service, by managing all StrathApp content and communication requests from university stakeholders. You will demonstrate a broad range of digital marketing and communications skills and have specialist understanding of student user journeys, Voice of the Customer, and Agile project management techniques. This role would suit an applicant with experience of the Scrum Master role.

The Role:


	As Digital Communications Officer for the Mobile App Development Service: successfully manage, support, and enhance both StrathApp and wider digital communications channels for the Collaboration Services team. A key first task will be the creation of a digital community for the growing eco system of apps within the University (e.g., Strath Union, StrathReps, catering, Strath Sport, etc.).
	As the CS team’s Digital Communications specialist, advise on improvements to digital services, IT systems and related business processes.
	Supervise student placement/project assistants, playing a key role in Student Co-creation activities.
	Be the institution’s leading champion for App Digital Communications working alongside colleagues in ISD, Student Experience, Marketing & Development Services, Education Enhancement, and Strath Union to define and implement a Student Digital Communications Strategy
	 With the team, ensure compliance with university policy and wider legislation on Branding, University Values, the commercial app stores (Google, Apple), Digital Accessibility, Privacy & Electronic Communication Regulations (PECR) and General Data Protection Regs (GDPR).
