We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated administrator to provide high quality HR support to the School. The post of Senior Business Operations Officer (HR) works closely with the School HR Manager and the School’s professional services core team to provide efficient operational support to staff and students in the School. The post holder supports staff recruitment campaigns and implements the School’s and College’s HR processes at every stage of the employee lifecycle. The post holder must ensure that HR processes are processed promptly, accurately and in accordance with King’s College London’s HR policies and financial regulations. They will act as a first point of contact for general HR enquiries, becoming a local expert in their area of work. The post holder will forge good working relationships with the School’s academics and researchers as well as King’s Human Resources, and champion the use of the university’s systems (in particular our HR system PeopleXD). The post holder will be highly organised and meticulous dealing with recruitment across the School and managing day to day HR enquiries, as well as probation monitoring, onboarding and inductions for new starters, processing contract variations and extensions, leaver paperwork and supporting visiting and honorary contracts. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. Hybrid working is available. About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Solid understanding of a range of complex business operations processes and their use, such as HR, procurement, financial processes - acquired through relevant work experience.  Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at all levels, and experience building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in a professional manner Experience of interpreting policies and procedures and providing routine advice and guidance. We are seeking a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing of Peatlands to join the newly established Center of Excellence in Peatlands, Climate Change and Ecological Restoration (PeatResC), funded by the Research Council of Finland, for a three-year position. The preferred starting date for the position is spring 2026. Your role The Center of Excellence in Peatlands, Climate Change and Ecological Restoration (PeatResC) is a newly funded, highly competitive Centre of Excellence starting in January 2026, bringing together Aalto University, University of Eastern Finland, Finnish Meteorological Institute and University of Helsinki. PeatResC addresses fundamental questions on ongoing changes in northern peatlands, focusing on climate-change impacts on biodiversity and climate feedbacks, as well as the effects of upcoming large-scale restoration efforts. The postdoctoral researcher will be based in the PeatResC research team led by Professor Miina Rautiainen at Aalto University and will work in close collaboration with partners across this internationally recognized consortium. The main research responsibilities include the development of novel methods and analysis of remote sensing data to monitor water table dynamics and biophysical properties of northern peatlands, from local to Holarctic scales. The position also involves participation in peatland field measurement campaigns, as well as teaching and student supervision at Aalto University. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate in extended field campaigns during the summer months, including travel for several weeks at a time and work in remote field conditions. Full time, 2 years fixed term, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Chemistry Opportunity to drive a high-impact research program on engineering carbon fixation in cyanobacteria Base Salary, Academic level A, $113,400- $116,916 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Chemistry is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cyanobacterial Synthetic Biology who will work with the research group of Associate Professor Yu Heng Lau on engineering carbon fixation to enhance the growth of photosynthetic organisms. This project is funded by an ARC Discovery Project 2026, where the research associate will focus on engineering encapsulin protein cages in cyanobacteria, with optimal carbon fixing designs to be implemented in plants through collaboration with Professor Spencer Whitney at the Australian National University. The ultimate goal of this research program is to generate crops that are more resilient and resource-efficient, leading to increased agricultural productivity.
