About Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS)

Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) is a graduate research and training institution located in Quebec, Canada. It was founded in 1969 as a branch of Université de Québec and was initially created as a research centre focused on the study of water and the environment.

However, over time it has diversified its research areas to include applied sciences, social sciences, humanities and engineering. Today, INRS is organised into four research centres, namely Centre Eau Terre Environnement, Centre Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications, Centre Urbanisation Culture Société, and Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie.
