The Department of Chemistry at Georgetown University invites applications for a non-tenure track position in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry to begin in Fall 2025.The teaching load is 3 courses per semester, or the equivalent thereof, with core responsibilities in both introductory and advanced-level undergraduate courses.  We are especially interested in candidates with prior teaching experience who can enthusiastically contribute to curriculum development efforts.  Candidates with demonstrated interests in environmental chemistry and those who can find synergy with other university initiatives, such as the Earth Commons, will be positively viewed. Strong candidates should have demonstrated potential for quality teaching, effective student mentoring, and the ability to work collaboratively. This role is primarily based in Southampton at our Wessex Lane Halls of Residence. The role will be an administrative role, covering the Wessex Lane Reception and responding to student enquiries, post and key provision and delivering excellent customer services. Residences at the University of Southampton offer accommodation to over 6,000 students every year. You will be joining the team at an exciting time as we continue to develop our portfolio of over 6,100 rooms, instigating a new refurbishment plan along with continued development of our halls to enhance student experience.   

This Customer Service Assistant position offers the opportunity to provide excellent service throughout the day and in to the evening for students, residents and other customers who interact with our services. You will be calm under pressure and have a commitment to providing excellent customer service at every touchpoint, whilst supporting the ongoing development and improvement projects for our customer facing areas. As an excellent communicator and multi-tasker, you will also play a part in providing valuable support to the supervisory team at the Wessex Lane Halls of Residence both within and outside of reception. 

To ensure the smooth running of our service you will need to work in close partnership with colleagues in the Student Wellbeing, the Residences Lifecycle team, Security and others that collectively provide a 24/7 support to students in Halls. You will also need to collaborate with other departments within the University and external contractors who deliver services within our Halls of Residence. 

The successful candidate will be able to evidence experience of working within a busy and diverse customer service environment. We are looking for an approachable and organised character with excellent communication skills. You will need to be confident working within a team, and customer service skills across any industry could well be an advantage. The department uses multiple computer systems to deliver its services therefore experience using multiple systems is essential.

This position is currently being advertised for 36-hours per week, on a Monday-Friday rota working between the hours of 8am and 8pm on a rotational basis. You will also be expected to be available for occasional weekend/evening work to support peak activity times during the academic year such as student arrivals/departure events and open days.

A unique opportunity for individual to join as a Senior Anatomy Technician in the Medical School at the University of Surrey. This role provides technical support to the teaching and research areas in the Anatomy facilities within the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences.

The School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey will be offering a 4-year, graduate-entry bachelor’s degree medical programme. The first cohort of students started their studies in September 2024.

You’ll provide technical support to academic and research staff and Undergraduate Students during the teaching sessions & lab placements.

Role & Responsibilities

You’ll be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, responsible for the dissecting room, and the associated facilities, so you’ll need flexibility and adaptability to be able to keep up with an ever-changing environment.

You’ll also need to be physically fit and able to assist with the preparation, delivery and clear up of anatomy teaching classes. You’ll need to have experience in HTA compliance, protocols and procedures and have experience of being a person designate on a HTA Anatomy licence.

Other responsibilities include:


	Liaising with internal and external stakeholders such as the London Anatomy Office for the provision of cadavers and cadaveric parts.
	To lead the organisation and set up of the anatomy facility for scheduled teaching sessions and external course providers using the facility,
	To receive, prepare and embalm donors arriving at the facility, and prepare and process fresh frozen cadavers when required.
	To assist academic staff and clinical anatomy demonstrators in the creation of prosecutions for teaching purposes.
	To ensure human material is stored safely and dignity and respect of donors is maintained at all times.
	maintaining HTA Standards applicable to all licensable activities carried out within the facility.


The role may require a significant amount of manual handling and an ability to adapt to changes in the workload at peak times. You must be able to work independently and have good time management skills.

The School of Earth and Oceans at The University of Western Australia undertakes diverse fundamental and applied research with recognised strengths in mineral geoscience, petroleum geoscience, geochemistry, hydrogeology and marine geoscience. The School has an international reputation in research and teaching with strong support from the mineral exploration, petroleum and groundwater industries, and well-established collaborations with industry and state and federal government agencies.  The School hosts the ARC-funded Centre for Critical Resources for the Future, which brings together partners in academia, industry and government to address research and training challenges in critical minerals.

	Plan, implement and coordinate workflows according to project requirements and timelines, including undertaking measurements and data processing, ensuring data quality control, and assisting other researchers and students in these functions

About you 


	PhD qualification in Geoscience
	Demonstrated expertise in mineralogy, mineral chemistry and geochronology, and in the application of these in critical minerals research
	A high level of competency in techniques for rock and mineral characterisation and microanalysis, especially with electron microbeam, ion microprobe and laser ablation ICPMS platforms, with a track record of innovation in these or similar techniques
	A record of establishing and maintaining effective, positive relationships with the minerals exploration industry
	A demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team
