We are offering an exciting opportunity for two Clinical Psychologists to join the Clinical Psychology Training Programme at the University of Surrey, based in Guildford. We have two permanent, part-time roles available (0.6 FTE/21.6 hours per week). We are happy to support hybrid working but the post holder is expected to be in on Tuesday when the trainees are at the University, and at least one other day per week. About the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science From molecules to medicine The Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (IPS) is concerned with gaining a detailed understanding of the human pathological state and employing this knowledge to discover, design, develop and deliver drugs to the patient with a view to managing disease. It provides the multidisciplinary approach required to contribute to the overall development of pharmacologically active compounds from their earliest stages of conception at the bench through their presentation as medicines, to the analysis of their use within the community. IPS is one of the largest divisions in the health schools and is currently organised in five groups: Pharmaceutical Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Drug Delivery, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Clinical Practice and Medication Use. There is a vibrant PhD programme with more than 100 students, and a comprehensive suite of postgraduate taught programmes. In the Research Excellence Framework 2014, based on ‘power’, a factor taking into account the quality of the research output and the number of researchers assessed, King’s College London was ranked first in the UK out of the 83 universities that made returns in Unit of Assessment 3, to which IPS contributed. About The Role The post-holder is expected to carry out pioneering laboratory work in engineering extracellular vesicles (EVs) to create novel delivery systems for oral delivery of mRNA. Experience in isolation and characterisation of EVs, together with intestinal epithelial cell culture is mandatory for the role. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have strong skills and experience in nanomaterial characterisation and biological assays such as cytotoxicity testing and measurement of cell uptake of materials. The post holder is expected to participate in regular individual and group research meetings to communicate their research and receive feedback, in addition to attending external scientific meetings/conferences. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to engage in disseminating their research via publications and as such, they are expected to prepare manuscripts for publication. About the role The role-holder will have extensive technical expertise in NMR and comprehensive knowledge of small molecule solution NMR. They will support research activities across several different user groups, such as PhD students, researchers, external and industrial users, to deliver an exceptional service. About the Role We are seeking five Researchers to join an exciting collaborative project in partnership with Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK), a leading global industry partner. This role combines applied research with practical development, focusing on innovative solutions that address real-world challenges. This project will support the development of a new, lightweight battery electric vehicle (BEV) at TMUK’s Burnaston site. The vehicle will meet the rising demand for eco-friendly micro-mobility, with features including a solar roof, advanced connectivity, and sustainable materials, ensuring end of recovery and recycling. It supports the UK's move to zero-emission transport, boosts the supply chain, and secures jobs at TMUK. By developing a ready-to-produce design, the project opens new market opportunities and positions the UK as a leader in sustainable urban mobility and advanced automotive manufacturing. The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) has funded this £30.3 million project through the UK Government’s DRIVE35 Collaborate programme and aims to meet the evolving needs of urban populations while accelerating the shift to zero tailpipe emission transport by validating a novel, lightweight BEV in the L6e category. The University of Derby will play a critical role in the project, leading on real-world testing and analysis, and leveraging its expertise in micromobility user behaviour and solar energy viability. Together, the consortium partners are studying how to shape a smarter and more sustainable future for urban mobility across Europe. Acting as a ‘living lab,’ the University will evaluate how the BEV fits evolving patterns of sustainable urban mobility and assess its potential to transform city transport. As micromobility becomes central to the future of urban transport, this study marks a vital step towards understanding and meeting the evolving mobility needs of city populations while accelerating the shift towards reduced congestion emissions and enhanced urban accessibility. The research aligns with the University of Derby’s flagship Derby Urban Sustainable Transport Transition (DUST) project, focused on enhancing the city’s green spaces and promoting low-carbon mobility. By applying innovations in data-centric engineering and market demand opportunities, along with user engagement and experience, we will explore how novel technologies will be adopted and accepted such that micromobility reaches the most appropriate users and locations, maximising accessibility and effectiveness.
