It may be noted that English is the working language and the primary medium of instruction at UM.

The English Language Centre (ELC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) invites applications for the position of Visiting Instructor (English Language Learning Support). The initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of a second contract upon mutual agreement.

Visiting Instructor (English Language Learning Support) works together with instructors to support the ELC mission of empowering students to succeed in University studies and in life by engaging them in English, academic, and global skills learning. They work mainly in the ELC English Writing and Communication Centre and the English Co-curricular Activity Committee. Both are essential arms of the ELC in providing English language learning support for UM students. The main tasks of the Visiting Instructor (English Language Learning Support) include: a) conducting one-on-one English writing and speaking tutorial sessions in the ELC Writing Centre; b) designing, organizing, and implementing creative educational activities and workshops for students; c) providing support to ELC instructors in the Summer English Programme for pre-sessional students and in regular semesters as needed; d) organizing events and activities in ELC, UM Open Day, and FAH Language & Culture Day, etc.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Master’s degree from an accredited programme and excellent command of English. Candidates with qualifications in English Education/ELT/TEFL/TESOL will have an advantage. Candidates with some full-time work experience since degree graduation are preferred, as well as experience in project/event management and/or English tutoring/teaching.

The successful candidates should possess the following characteristics: strong initiation and independence in project planning, organization, and execution, conscientiousness and self-motivated, a strong desire to support and nurture students, the ability to build rapport, engage and motivate students, innovative and creative, resourceful and problem solving, outstanding communication and organisational skills and an eye for details, skilled at both working independently and within a team. Skills in IT, social media content creation and promotion, and creative digital multi-media would be an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty on 1st August, 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable monthly remuneration starting from MOP21,972 (equivalent to USD2,746) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. Basic medical benefits are available at a low cost. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5%-7% after various discretionary exemptions.

About You
The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in the Discipline of Psychology. More specifically, you will make a significant contribution to the teaching of programs at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, undertake clinical supervision in the Postgraduate program, and be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional capabilities. You will also be expected to develop, engage in and lead high-quality research projects that are aligned with the University's research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high-quality outputs. You will also actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will also be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. You may also be responsible for course coordination.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:


	Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and online, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.
	Ability to undertake course coordination role.
	Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning
	Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
	Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
	Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
	Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent1 (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

About the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences
The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across ten disciplines: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmacy and Psychology. Your personal sphere of play:

The section of Geophysics is looking to fill two positions of university assistant/postdoc in the field of seismology. Our main research contexts are passive ambient-noise subsurface imaging for geothermal resources, water in the crust, regional structure and geodynamics (e.g. for Southeastern Europe). Possible are also seismoacoustic waves/infrasound, nuclear verification, and seismic hazard. Data are available from AdriaArray/AlpArray, and from various earlier deployment of the department`s  shortperiod nodal instrumentation pool (Fairfield, SmartSolo), as well as our broadband and infrasound pools. The above topics are not exclusive; e.g., modeling of geophysical constraints is also welcome.

This position is limited to September 30, 2026. 

Your future tasks:

We require active participation in research, in particular in seismology, or a field connecting closely with it. You are expected to contribute to one or more of the above mentioned main research contexts. New technical developments are highly welcome, for addressing questions of fundamental research and/or, very welcome, industrial application. Also independent teaching within the scope of the provisions of the collective agreement and the supervision of students belong to the scope of work. Furthermore, there may be a minor amount of administration.

This is part of your personality:


	Doctoral degree / PhD either in Geophysics, or - if in a neighbouring field - experience in seismology.
	Interest in geophysical field work, and the related data analysis, interpretation, and the data flow (toward national/international data bases).
	Excellent command of written and spoken English is a necessity.
	Knowledge of the German language would be an advantage.
	Advanced computer capabilities are indispensable, as is the capability of interacting in a research group.
