Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer / Assistant Research Officer in the School of Public Health (several posts) (Ref. no.: 528907) to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr. P.H. or equivalent) in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience. They should have a strong research-related background; multiple years of experience in leading academic and project management aspects of research studies, demonstrated expertise in working with large and complex datasets; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. They should be organized, responsible, resourceful and attentive to details. Those with lower academic qualification and less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant Research Officer.

The appointees will be primarily responsible for applied and methodological work in epidemiological and/or statistical research, and will work in a large population-based cohort with over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households. They will generate tables and figures for reports and presentations; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; assist in teaching; and perform general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical/dental benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary for Assistant Research Officer, and 15% for Research Officer.  Housing benefits will be provided to Research Officer if applicable.

Description

The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to work on the development of high sensitivity integrated photonics sensors in Silicon Photonics (SiPh) platform.

The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on the development of smart optical sensors for environmental monitoring in the oil & gas industry. Our photonics research lab within the CSEM has set modern tools for the design, testing, and optimization of photonic circuits. It is open for collaboration with researchers with a background in basic research to investigate new optical circuits and materials with specific optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. The focus of this research project is related to advanced optoelectronics materials for sensing applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

 Description The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences (ENS) at San Diego State University is searching for a full-time (Academic Year) tenure-track faculty member in exercise physiology. This position will be at the Assistant Professor rank and will begin August 2025. An earned academic doctorate (PhD preferred) in Exercise Physiology, Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field is required. Research expertise in human or animal exercise physiology is essential. Expertise in environmental physiology, chronic disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, or exercise performance is desirable. The ideal candidate will have the potential to build relationships with existing faculty in the School of ENS and collaborations among outside centers and departments, such as biology, public health, bioengineering, etc. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of exercise physiology, pathophysiology, and exercise metabolism. Experience and interest in working with diverse student populations is highly desirable. Supervision of M.S. degree students in exercise physiology and/or nutritional sciences is expected.The School of ENS is in the College of Health and Human Services, one of seven colleges at San Diego State University.
