Position Summary:
The Department of History at Susquehanna University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Latin American History. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester, including Latin American surveys and upper-level courses in areas of their expertise. The successful candidate will exhibit active, student-centered teaching practices and promising scholarly potential. Institutional support for faculty scholarship, student research assistance, and conference travel is available. Susquehanna University is a partner institution of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and hosts an active Latinx Initiative.

Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Latin American history is required; ABD will be considered (degree completion required by August 2025).

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in race, diaspora, indigenous groups, sexuality and gender, or environmental impacts.

Description

The Division of Science at NYU Abu Dhabi is searching for accomplished visiting faculty in Computer Science to educate the next generation of global leaders.  Multidisciplinary research and exceptional teaching in a highly diverse and inclusive campus community are hallmarks of the University’s mission.

Applicants should have a relevant PhD and demonstrate an outstanding track record for their career stage in both research and teaching. The visiting position is for one academic year, and the expected teaching load is four courses with relatively small class sizes.

Successful candidates may receive some research funding for conference travel and/or minor equipment, and may also have access to internal competitive funds. Additional research support includes access to high-performance computing facilities.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated postgraduate or postdoctoral Research Assistant in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sleep, to work within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey.

This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr Ullrich Bartsch and in collaboration with the Prof Paul Gringras at the Evelina Children’s Hospital and King’s College London.

The role

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers with the main aim to develop the next generation of AI models to predict severe sleep disorders, such as narcolepsy, from signals collected using wearable devices including electroencephalography (EEG).

This will require expertise in time series analysis and feature engineering using multimodal timeseries, with a focus on EEG signals. Additionally experience in using different deep learning architecture for time series classification would be beneficial.

A second goal of the project is to develop the concept of a frontend for the dissemination of model generated predictions to clinical teams. Experience in frontend development and inclusion of user feedback into deep learning architectures using reinforcement learning or a or related technologies would be advantageous

You will be part of a vibrant research environment within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey – and included in the University-wide Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (PAI). Your work will involve leading, devising, coordinating, and supervising research projects, including the work involved in the collaborations with project partners, guidance to researchers and students, and applying for further funding to extend the research.

About you

You should hold a relevant postgraduate degree (Master’s) and/or hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil - with experience in the field of computer science, maths, biomedical engineering, or other fields relevant to the proposed area of research. Proven programming experience in Python, MATLAB or C/C++ is essential. Expertise in the analysis of time series data such as the Electroencephalogram (EEG) and/or analysis of data recorded by wearable devices would be highly advantageous.

About the opportunity

We are one of the largest mathematical sciences schools in Australia, and the University of Sydney is the only Australian university to have received the highest rating of 5 out of 5 for research in the mathematical sciences in every Australian Research Council Excellence in Research for Australia assessment to date. The University also hosts the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), which attracts leading mathematical scientists from all over the world to do research with Australian collaborators.

We are seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Associates in Representation Theory. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of Professor Geordie Williamson at SMRI. The successful applicants will undertake research on topics in one or more of the areas of: modular representation theory, algebraic geometry, combinatorial Hodge theory, computation and machine learning. The candidates will also support the research and outreach activities at SMRI in these areas.
