The Global Mobility Office is a student-facing and external-facing professional services team of eleven. This is an opportunity to join a small, close, centralised professional services team providing inbound and outbound study and work abroad lifecycle support and reporting, mobility partnership agreement negotiation and management, and administration of Erasmus, Turing and the Staff International Exchange Programme, in pursuance of the university’s Education and International strategies.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so. 

About The Role

The Global Mobility Officer (Increasing Opportunities) works with the Global Mobility Officer (Outgoing Student Support) and Global Mobility Senior Officer (Outgoing Students Co-ordinator) to facilitate King’s students spending a period abroad as part of their degree or as an extra-curricular opportunity. The role combines programme administration, student support and international relationship liaison. 

The Global Mobility Officer (Increasing Opportunities) has operational responsibility for a set of tasks and processes within the Global Mobility Office’s wider remit. They work within and across multiple teams at the university, engaging with a wide range of colleagues, and they contribute to activities which positively impact the student experience. This includes assisting with the planning, administration and delivery of outgoing study and work abroad opportunities; responding sensitively to student enquiries ensuring students experience consistent support pre-, during, and post-mobility; nominating and then supporting outgoing King’s students with their applications to partner universities and work placements, particularly those in Europe; troubleshooting and liaising as necessary with external organisations; and providing support for and contributing to widening outgoing mobility participation and funding administration as well as broader diversity and inclusion activities for under-represented cohorts.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in other universities or any other large, complicated organisation, or else in roles with a diplomatic sensibility. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training. 
	Outstanding administrative skills 
	Excellent English language and communications skills in all media with the ability to communicate information – including matters of a non-routine nature – clearly 
	Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams  
	Good organisational and time-management skills  
	Strong eye for detail and ways to ensure accuracy  
	Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging deadlines 
	Understanding the need for sensitivity and confidentiality as well as when and how to escalate sensitive matters


Desirable criteria


	Ability to demonstrate a meaningful and visible commitment to Diversity & Inclusion practices. 
	Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with external and internal stakeholders  
	Ability to work with others to support project and programme aims and overcome challenges  
	Experience of administering study abroad, exchange or funding programmes  
	Experience of using SITS:Vision or other student record databases

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Groundsperson to join the University of Surrey, to work as part of the award-winning team responsible for the horticultural maintenance and landscaping of the University Estate.

Providing a high quality, efficient, cost effective service for the University, the post holder plays an important role in contributing towards a positive student and staff experience, through providing an attractive, safe and welcoming landscaped estate in which to work study and live.

Key Responsibilities

This role covers a wide range of horticultural and other estate management tasks. After the relevant training you will be expected to operate a wide range of landscaping equipment & machinery in order to provide high-quality, cost-effective maintenance on the University of Surrey’s estate.

Other responsibilities include:


	General horticultural maintenance operations in the Grounds and associated areas throughout the University Estate including litter picking and clearing of snow or ice.
	Routine driving, operation and maintenance of horticultural and other Grounds maintenance machinery including those hired by the University, and basic tractor powered equipment, excluding larger equipment powered by tractor.
	Assisting with the preparation of soil and areas associated with the establishing of hard and soft landscaping around new buildings, including the installation or provision of new sports facilities
	Ensuring work is carried out in strict compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH and any other relevant legislation covering safety in the workplace.


Experience of horticulture, sports grounds maintenance and relevant NVQ or equivalent qualifications are an advantage, but not essential. Full training will be provided. Candidates will need to be physically fit and hold a valid UK driving licence for this role.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated postgraduate or postdoctoral Research Assistant in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sleep, to work within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey.

This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr Ullrich Bartsch and in collaboration with the Prof Paul Gringras at the Evelina Children’s Hospital and King’s College London.

The role

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers with the main aim to develop the next generation of AI models to predict severe sleep disorders, such as narcolepsy, from signals collected using wearable devices including electroencephalography (EEG).

This will require expertise in time series analysis and feature engineering using multimodal timeseries, with a focus on EEG signals. Additionally experience in using different deep learning architecture for time series classification would be beneficial.

A second goal of the project is to develop the concept of a frontend for the dissemination of model generated predictions to clinical teams. Experience in frontend development and inclusion of user feedback into deep learning architectures using reinforcement learning or a or related technologies would be advantageous

You will be part of a vibrant research environment within the Surrey Sleep Research Centre at the University of Surrey – and included in the University-wide Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (PAI). Your work will involve leading, devising, coordinating, and supervising research projects, including the work involved in the collaborations with project partners, guidance to researchers and students, and applying for further funding to extend the research.

About you

You should hold a relevant postgraduate degree (Master’s) and/or hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil - with experience in the field of computer science, maths, biomedical engineering, or other fields relevant to the proposed area of research. Proven programming experience in Python, MATLAB or C/C++ is essential. Expertise in the analysis of time series data such as the Electroencephalogram (EEG) and/or analysis of data recorded by wearable devices would be highly advantageous.

About the opportunity 

As an English Language Teacher, you will teach English language programs to international students at the University's Centre for English Teaching (CET).

We are developing an eligibility list of Casual Teachers for our peak period consisting of 5-week terms commencing from June 2024 through to January 2025.

Available positions are mostly for experienced teachers of Academic English, full-time (20 hours per week) and part time (8 - 12 hours per week). This is a zero-hour contract and does not guarantee work throughout January 2025, as teaching hours are determined by the number of students and classes and the needs of the centre.

Classes are held Mondays - Fridays between 8.00am-12.15pm, 12.20pm-4.35pm or 4.40pm-9.00pm and delivered on-campus.

About the opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a research only position in health economics at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics within the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health.

The Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics is the leading independent voice on health policy in Australia, they focus on improving public health outcomes through policy innovation and practical implementation. With a program of community engagement, the Centre encourages informed debate about how Australians can influence health policy to ensure that it is consistent with their values and priorities; policies that are able to deliver, safe, high-quality health care that is sustainable in the long term.

The University is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow (Level B) to contribute to the health economics research program, and join a growing team of health economics researchers, working in economic evaluation, economic modelling, discrete choice/ stakeholder preference analysis and quality of life/ wellbeing research across a range of different contexts. The incumbent will be based in the Moore College Building located on the Camperdown campus.

This is fixed term positions for 1 year initially. Although full time appointments are preferred, we would consider fractional appointments for the right candidate.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	Make a significant contribution to the research and administrative endeavours of the Centre and the School
	participate in multi-disciplinary health economics and health policy research, with a focus on collecting and analysing health system data for use in economic evaluations and preference elicitation.
	build a reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline of health economics and health policy.


About you


	A PhD (awarded or submitted) in health economics, health services research, or related discipline
	demonstrated track record of peer reviewed publications in health economics, or a related area
	experience in contributing to a multidisciplinary research team in a health economics / health services research/ biostatistics related topic
	demonstrated experience in health economic methodologies such as microcosting, economic evaluation, economic modelling, conducting discrete choice experiments to elicit stakeholder preferences or quality of life research
	experience with data linkage projects to evaluate healthcare resource use and costs
	ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic environment, and independently as required, and preparedness to contribute more broadly to research programmes within the Centre and School
	excellent oral and written communication skills


Desirable


	success in being awarded an NHMRC personal support grant (or equivalent) and/or other Category 1-4 research grant as a Chief Investigator or Associate Investigator
	experience with postgraduate research student supervision.
