The portfolio is built on strong partnerships and makes a significant contribution across the following areas: Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Culture and Animation, Fashion, Marketing and Photography, Film and TV, Games and Design, Global Business, Law, Music and Drama, Operations Management, and Professional Development, so strategic vision to further develop these areas is key.

As faculty Dean, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of eleven academic subject areas covering all the business and creative industries, as well as the key cross-faculty areas focusing on student outcomes, partnerships and business development and research, consequently you will be able to evidence credible research or professional leadership within one or more of the disciplines. A special focus will be required to drive the highest standards of quality across the portfolio; champion continued research and embrace commercial activity, building both reputation, REF performance and market share. This requires creative vision, strategic perspective and commercial acumen to deliver the University’s ambitious 2030 strategy. As well as the standing to lead and promote the faculty and contribute to the leadership of the University.

Your role as Dean will be further supported by an established team including a Deputy Dean, Faculty Chief Operating Officer, Faculty Academic Director, Associate Deans, Heads of Subject, and HR, Marketing and Finance Business Partners.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, you will work collaboratively with the other two faculties for interdisciplinary innovation, and with the Pro Vice Chancellors, as well as professional services for excellent service quality and efficiency. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER for a fixed term period of 2 years, starting as agreed.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the “Minority stress and gendered lives of same-sex couples and their children in Finland (MISTLIFE)” project financed by the Research Council of Finland. The principal investigator (PI) of the project is Dr Elina Einiö.

The project aims to provide insight into how the changing social environment has shaped the lives of gay men and lesbian women in same-sex couples. The objective is to understand (1) educational and earning paths, (2) family formations and dissolutions, (3) mental health problems and intimate partner violence among individuals in same-sex couples, and (4) the educational achievement of children in families with same-sex parents. The project uses advanced statistical methods and mainly register-based data from Finland. The societal impact of the project goes far beyond academia, given that discrimination against sexual minority groups can take various forms that need to be statistically studied and discussed.

The successful applicant should contribute to one or more of the research themes of the project. The project is associated with the Helsinki Institute for Demography and Population Health and the newly established Max Planck – University of Helsinki Center on Social Inequalities in Population Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main task of the appointed researcher is - jointly with the research team - to design and conduct quantitative research mostly on longitudinal register-based data. Additionally, the researcher is expected to actively contribute to teaching in the master’s program in social sciences, or thesis supervision (up to 5% annually) and other research activities of the Institute.    

QUALIFICATIONS  

The appointee to the position must hold a doctoral degree in demography, sociology, social psychology, public health, data sciences, statistics, economics, or other relevant field, have strong quantitative methods skills and an excellent command of written English. The default assumption is that the degree requirement must be met by the beginning of employment.

The Office of Planning and Analytics (OPA) operates under the guidance of the Chief Information and Digital Officer who is also the Chief Data Officer within the Division of Information Technology, Digital and Data, which falls under the Chief Operating Officers Portfolio. The OPA team provide information, business intelligence tools, and analysis to support performance monitoring, decision-making and strategy development.

The team is also responsible for producing and submitting government compliance data, providing marketing insights, internal performance reporting, and load management and projection.

Join the Australian National University (ANU) as Junior Information Security Engineer, where you will be instrumental in protecting and managing the university’s information and communication technology systems across both digital and non-digital environments.

About the Role

As a Junior Information Security Engineer, you will be accountable, under the broad direction of the Manager, Cyber Engineering or the Chief Information Security Officer, for undertaking and achieving complex cyber and information security tasks within a multidisciplinary team to support the Information Security Office’s mission. This position demands a good understanding of cybersecurity, and a commitment to maintaining security and compliance.

Key Duties:  


	Develop and implement comprehensive security controls to protect sensitive information and technologies. 
	Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to assess security risks and implement mitigation measures. 
	Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with evolving security standards and to stay informed of changes in regulations and best practices.
	Oversee the day-to-day operation of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other managed security systems.
	Respond to security incidents promptly, liaising with other teams for performing root cause analysis and implementing remediation controls.
	Continuously monitor network and system activity to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
	Ensure security configurations are applied consistently across all systems and networks, and update configurations as needed to address emerging threats.
	Administer and maintain security tools and platforms, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning correctly.


About You

Our ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:


	Expertise in implementing and managing cybersecurity requirements under the security policies and standards guidelines.
	Adequate level of technical knowledge and the ability to work effectively within a cybersecurity team.
	Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to remain resilient and adaptable to evolving cybersecurity threats and priorities.
	A proactive mindset with the ability to approach complex cybersecurity challenges positively, using sound judgment while assessing risks and impacts on strategic objectives.
	Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively, with keen attention to detail.
	The ability to interpret and adhere to legislative, policy, and regulatory requirements related to cybersecurity.
	Extensive experience in cyber engineering and security program projects
	Good understanding of risk management principles, experience in assessing and mitigating security risks across various IT environments with risk assessment frameworks knowledge.
