The range of departments highlights the range of courses on offer within the school and we are proud to work collaboratively with our NHS partners to look at new ways of working. About the Job

Join our innovative team to inspire the Occupational Therapists of the future. We have many exciting developments in our new and expanding programme that includes both apprenticeship and undergraduate programmes and we need Occupational Therapists with a passion for student education and the profession to join us in delivering these programmes. Due to our programme development and expansion, we are seeking to employ a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy to help us achieve our ambitious plans. Part-time would also be considered.

You will teach within a department delivering Occupational Therapy and other health related programmes.

About You

You will have a degree in Physiotherapy and be a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You will have expert knowledge of cardiovascular respiratory physiotherapy and experience and understanding of the physiotherapy placement model. In addition, you will have experience of mentoring/supervising students either academically or clinically.

We are looking to appoint a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with a broad range of practice and community experience, able to teach in many areas across the curriculum. 

You must be a member of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or have capacity to obtain membership within 12 months of appointment.

This appointment will involve practical and theoretical teaching across the undergraduate and apprenticeship occupational therapy degree programmes. You will be expected to support further developments within the department, both in a profession specific and multi-disciplinary context.

Description

The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to join this new initiative focus on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. The successful applicant will join several fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to improve the diagnosis and therapy of metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic disease. These projects entail computational modeling, device design and manufacturing, optimization of chemical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics, and preclinical experiments. CENTMED offers multidisciplinary training with a high degree of academic freedom among various high-impact translational projects. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students, ensuring the candidate learns valuable skills in writing manuscripts and grant proposals, advising fellow researchers, and establishing collaborations across disciplines.

Applicant must have a PhD in an engineering or biomedical-related field. Excellent skills relevant to the cardiovascular project (design and development of cardiovascular medical devices, non-invasive imaging modalities such as echocardiography, and computational flow simulation software), are required.

The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering is an dynamic and fast growing department, to contribute your talent for the department further development. The department offers BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture (2+2, 4+0) and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2+2, 4+0) programmes which cover mechanics, dynamics, kinetics, thermodynamics, energy, fluids, materials, manufacture, ergonomics and design. The department has strong links with the corresponding departments in the UK and Malaysia campuses of the University of Nottingham. We seek to appoint an associate professor in mechanical engineering, preferably with the international experience of teaching in a higher education institution. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to supervise undergraduate and masters dissertations. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original research in appropriate fields and play a lead role in collaborative research projects, leading to high quality publications and grant income. The person appointed will also be expected to assist with the administration of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and the Faculty of Science and Engineering in general and thus contribute to the Department’s growth in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

The candidate must have a PhD degree in a relevant engineering discipline and excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Experience of supervising PhD and Master students and experience of teaching, tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution are preferable.

Salary will be within the range of RMB620,374 to RMB762,597 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance).  In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling support and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China for a period of five years starting from September 2024 or as soon as thereafter.. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
