The Ulyanovsk State Technical University (UlSTU) is a major technical higher education and research institution in Ulyanovsk, Russia. It’s located in the Volga River region.
It was founded in 1957 as Ulyanovsk Polytech University and was then granted university status in 1993.

The key industries of the region are machine building and metal working. While other important economic activities of the city are power industry, retail trade and capital construction, banking area, service industries, tourism, food and light industry. As a result, the university aims to train specialists in these areas to boost the region's economy.

The university provides educational programmes of higher, second degree and postgraduate professional education as well as carrying out research projects.

There are eight faculties: humanities, machine-building engineering, radiotecnic engineering, building, information systems and technology, economic, mathematics, power engineering, extramural and evening education. There are also two institutes which are the Institute of Aviation Technology and Management and the Institute of Distance Education.

On campus, students will find the library, which is one of the largest in the Ulyanovsk region, holding more than 1,500,000 books. There are also dormitories for students to live on campus.

There are many cultural events such as talent shows and exhibitions for students to get involved with. There is a concert hall on campus for students to use.

For students with an interest in sport, there’s comprehensive sport facilities including a sport complex, modern stadium and clubs, which include volleyball, basketball, football, swimming and more

The university has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad. These include universities in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
