The School of Allied Health has a reputation for a strong evidence based approach to research and education that is used for policy and practice development. The Department of Social Work and Social Policy is located in the School and offers Bachelor and Masters of Social Work courses to students along with a range of Higher Degree by Research and coursework options.

About you


	Completed 4 years of tertiary study or equivalent qualifications and experience in academic field relevant to Social Work
	Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing
	Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and effective teaching approaches, materials for units and courses
	Demonstrated commitment in participating in high quality research evidenced by   outcomes and outputs
	Demonstrated experience or capability of working meaningfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.


Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate, Working with Children Check, and “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.

Position overview 

The Mathematical Sciences Institute is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) or Research Fellow (Level B).

This position is funded by two Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery projects awarded to Neil Trudinger and Po-Lam Yung. The primary aim of the positions is to carry out the research programme proposed for the Discovery projects. This will be done in collaboration with the two investigators above and a range of Australian and international collaborators.

The projects involve the study of fully nonlinear partial differential equations and their geometric and physical applications, using various approaches including, in particular, those from harmonic analysis. The level of this appointment, Academic Level A or B, will be determined by the appointee’s level of experience and expertise.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding record in research relative to opportunity, in a field directly relevant to the two projects mentioned above.

The ARC grant provides for some funding for international travel for successful applicants to attend conferences and workshops, and to conduct collaborative research with international colleagues.

Role Description

We welcome applications from well-qualified postgraduates who wish to carry out research into Sustainable Agricultural Systems and the Green Economy.

About the Role

This is an exciting role which involves close interaction with water utilities, a fertiliser company, innovation technology providers and academia, funded by the Ofwat Innovation Fund. It entails a novel process in waste water treatment which produces a biostimulant able to improve crop growth by regulating the release of nutrients from organo-mineral fertilisers. This project will involve setting up glasshouse and erosion studies to evaluate efficacy of the biostimulants. There will be links with organisations to produce fertiliser pellets and liaison with field trials involving a fertiliser company.

About You

You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in Soil Science, Agronomy, Geography or Crop Science and have experience in conducting glasshouse studies and agronomic field trials, laboratory analysis, data analysis and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts.

The role

An exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to work on a study: The Common Genetic Biomarkers of Developmental Coordination Disorder. This is a part time (28.8 hours/week), fixed term contract up to September 2025.

Findings from the study will improve our understanding of the early biomarkers of DCD, expanding current knowledge on the genetic causes of this common, yet under-recognised neurodevelopmental condition and shed light on the biological mechanisms underlying early pathways leading to poorly coordinated movement.

As a post-doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) working on this project, you will apply your knowledge of handling genetic data to all aspects of this study. The tasks will range from participant recruitment, data collection, cleaning and analysis to communications on social media platforms as well as curating the necessary administrative aspects of the role.

About you

This placement will be ideal for a post-doctoral (PD) researcher who is interested in clinical populations and who wish to learn about genetic research. The PDRA will take the lead with posting the DNA saliva kits to participants via post and quality control, analyses and manuscript writing. The position will require flexibility, good planning and organisation.
