We are seeking a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing of Peatlands to join the newly established Center of Excellence in Peatlands, Climate Change and Ecological Restoration (PeatResC), funded by the Research Council of Finland, for a three-year position. The preferred starting date for the position is spring 2026. Your role The Center of Excellence in Peatlands, Climate Change and Ecological Restoration (PeatResC) is a newly funded, highly competitive Centre of Excellence starting in January 2026, bringing together Aalto University, University of Eastern Finland, Finnish Meteorological Institute and University of Helsinki. PeatResC addresses fundamental questions on ongoing changes in northern peatlands, focusing on climate-change impacts on biodiversity and climate feedbacks, as well as the effects of upcoming large-scale restoration efforts. The postdoctoral researcher will be based in the PeatResC research team led by Professor Miina Rautiainen at Aalto University and will work in close collaboration with partners across this internationally recognized consortium. The main research responsibilities include the development of novel methods and analysis of remote sensing data to monitor water table dynamics and biophysical properties of northern peatlands, from local to Holarctic scales. The position also involves participation in peatland field measurement campaigns, as well as teaching and student supervision at Aalto University. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate in extended field campaigns during the summer months, including travel for several weeks at a time and work in remote field conditions. About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual experienced in the practice and communication of sound statistical principles to join our Faculty. The Faculty supports high quality epidemiological studies and complex clinical trials in nursing, midwifery, palliative care, rehabilitation, technologies, and health services research. You will contribute to new grant applications and advise on studies to completion and publication, including supervision of junior statisticians. You will also contribute to teaching, provide PhD and MSc supervision and contribute to improving statistical skills across the Faculty. You will be associated with the UKCRC-registered King’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), working to their quality management system. The King’s CTU has world-leading statistical and trial delivery expertise and provides randomisation services and other management system support. You will be involved in grant applications to a variety of funding streams such as those offered by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and the Medical Research Council (MRC), including pilot/feasibility to definitive trials and fellowships that typically involve trials or epidemiology using big data. About the Department/College The Department of Educational Specialties (ESP) is part of the College of Education (COE) and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in applied behavior analysis, special education, bilingual and multicultural education, career and technical education, and educational technology. Courses are designed with flexibility in mind to support students as they balance work, family, and academic responsibilities, and coursework is directly connected to the knowledge and skills required in applied settings. The Department of Educational Specialties prepares professionals to meet the needs of all learners in today's classrooms and communities. As a core faculty member, the successful candidate will be involved in teaching, accreditation, and programmatic decision-making for the graduate programs in ABA.About the Position The Department of Educational Specialties is seeking a full-time, career- track (non-tenure) faculty position beginning Fall 2026 to coordinate the MEd in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Graduate Certificate programs. The successful candidate will teach asynchronous online courses for students preparing to take the national exam to become BCBAs, as well as lead the process of securing professional association accreditation to meet the BACB's 2032 Pathway 1 requirements. We are interested in candidates who have experience providing behavior analytic services and have mentored and supervised others providing interventions based on the science of ABA. We encourage applications from candidates who have experience with accreditation and program leadership. This position is located on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.Responsibilities Include Teach online graduate classes in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Support (PBS). Coordinate the MEd in ABA and PBSGraduate Certificate programs preparing future BCBAs to address the market demand for professional practitioners in the field. Lead the process of securing professional association accreditation for the MEd in ABA program to fulfill the BACB's 2032 Pathway 1 requirements. Recruit and advise students in the ABA and PBS programs while teaming with other university departments to promote the admission and matriculation of students. Participate in the development and management of quality assessment within the program. Collaborate with other faculty to promote innovation and continuous improvement in course content and pedagogy. Fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, university, and profession. Minimum Qualifications Educational Requirements: An earned doctorate in Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD candidates may be considered only if they plan to have their degree by the start date. Qualifications and Experience: PhD or terminal degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or Related FieldA current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential [BCBA-D preferred]. Online teaching experience (can include college teaching as a graduate assistant). Clinical and supervisory experience as a practicing behavior analyst. *A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into teaching including experience with online delivery of higher education and associated support systems. Experience with program development and assessment toward accreditation. Ability/experience or strong interest in recruiting, advising, and mentoring graduate students. Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate level courses in applied behavior analysis (in-person, blended, or online).
