Presumably, Slavoj Žiyžek's thesis (Features, March 24) that "the threat today is not passivity but pseudo-activity, the urge to 'be active' to mask the Nothingness of what goes on" includes the pseudo-activity involved in the urge to actively write vacuous articles for The Times Higher to mask the nothingness of what goes on when one is reduced to promoting one's own books?
