Your leader ("'Grey-goo' scare stories don't merit new regime", THES, May 2) states that, while technology can have unintended consequences, this does not mean that Prince Charles is right that nanotechnology will reduce humanity to grey goo. In response, the Institute of Physics plans to invite the prince to a seminar. This assumes that he should have a publicly expressed view. But in a constitutional monarchy, shouldn't senior royals shut up about such issues?
