In brief 1

五月 10, 2002

The April 26 THES Diary report on the comments by the Sir John Cass foundation concerning its having been insufficiently consulted over London Guildhall University's merger with the University of North London is at apparent odds with provost Roderick Floud's introduction to the LGU review of 2001 (March 2002).

In it, he claims that the merger has been welcomed by organisations with which the university has "strong relationships" - including the Sir John Cass Foundation.

The driving force behind the merger is the wish to serve the government policy of saving money. The negative impact of this on educational provision is clearly not something that any educational foundation would welcome.
