Money troubles

五月 5, 2006

So "giving students from poor families significant sums of money at the beginning of the academic year could be 'asking for trouble'" (News, April 7)?

What patronising arrogance. These students might be "sons helping their single parents to pay off debts or ethnic minority students using their loans to contribute to the family business". So much worse of course than students not from "poor families" who spend their money on beer, clubbing, cannabis and other things that make up the so-called student lifestyle.
