According to press reports, Tony Blair wants to end the academic boycott of Israel. Can I point out that the boycott does not target Israeli nationals per se but Israeli institutions, and that it is not his business to "do anything necessary" to stop academic boycotts. Universities are independent institutions and individuals are free to boycott whatever they wish. His alleged comments smack of totalitarianism.
