Keith Flett surely dissembles when he suggests that his beard (a removable statement) is the reason he has never been approached by MI-something (Letters, 29 November): his missives to Times Higher Education and a prominent left-leaning newspaper (that narrows it down a bit) must make him a serious security risk.
