Spelling out the real problems 5

二月 17, 2006

Are the academics (and business leaders) who fulminate against the literacy skills of today's undergraduates the same ones who built their careers on peddling obscurantist drivel, aided by those masters of opacity, the politicians? I work in a university, and no one implements anything anymore: they "roll out", and money is never given but "resources are allocated". Students are encouraged to use a program - Microsoft Word - written by people who believe that the antonym for "hide" is "unhide". Mind you, it has not stopped Bill Gates becoming a multibillionaire.
