Alison Wolf (Column, March 16) might like to know that King's College London made special provision for women students well into the last century.

Women had their own Union Society and a separate common room; they were also subject to supervision by a specially appointed "Tutor to Women Students". They were eligible for some - but not all - posts in King's College Union Society before the Second World War.
