Esso fuels green education package

十一月 18, 1994

Mechanical engineers at Surrey University have won a Pounds 15,000 grant from the petroleum firm Esso to develop a multimedia teaching and learning package for energy and environmental management.

The work will result in a multimedia module for final-year undergraduate students. The package will feature text, images, interactive exercises and videos on key energy efficiency and environmental protection issues.

The mechanical engineering department says that the package will allow students to appreciate the scale of the challenge facing energy and environmental managers in large-scale industries in a way which is visually stimulating.

The package will be developed by the university's centre for engineering educational technology which has considerable experience of developing multimedia education systems to collaboration with environmental management experts at Farnborough College of Technology.

The programme is scheduled for launch in 1995-96 and will be made available to students studying on engineering and business management and MEng courses. Other institutions will be encouraged to use it.

Alex Henham, academic co-ordinator for the project says: "The package will make the learning process more exciting and accessible than it has been before."
