On Wednesday 3rd March, Dr Anthony Schrag, (Senior Lecturer in Arts Management and Cultural Policy at Queen Margaret University) and Christina McBride, (Lecturer in Fine Art Photography at The Glasgow School of Art) will host an online conversation, designed to help prospective students understand the range of options available when choosing a master’s in the world of art as well as act as a point of reflection on the decision-making process itself.
The session is free and open to all, with slots bookable via the online listings site Eventbrite. As well as a discussion between Anthony and Christina, the forty-minute session will also include recorded first-hand experiences from students and alumni of both institutions then be followed by an open question and answer session.
The purpose of the talk is to highlight to those considering a future in the art world that whilst the outcomes of a master’s degree are important, the process involved in reaching the outcome can sometimes be as important a consideration. Being in the right place and enjoying what you do can sometimes be a better way to decide on a programme of study than fixating on a potential future that may never exist.
In the conversation Anthony and Christina will also discuss the way students' aspirations and intentions change during the course of a degree, and how the self-reflection and discovery can help students to move closer to the art practice they would like.
In Conversation: Choosing your master’s in the world of art takes place on Wednesday 3rd March from 2pm-3pm. The session is free and spaces can be booked through the Eventbrite booking link
