Gove liked us once

一月 19, 2017

I am so pleased that Michael Gove clarified that when he denounced “experts”, he meant only economists (“Facing iceberg alley”, Leader, 12 January).

He certainly approved of experts in 2011, when, as secretary of state for education, he published a Green Paper on Support and Aspiration: A New Approach to Special Educational Needs and Disability, in which he promised to give more power to professionals in the area. He wanted to “strip away unnecessary bureaucracy so that professionals can innovate and use their judgement”. This gave such a boost to the confidence of all the professionals who deal with children with special needs and disabilities.
