The Wellcome Trust is to put upto Pounds 25 million into joint research on infectious diseases carried out by teams with participants drawn from the developed and developing world.
Diphtheria, tetanus and dengue fever will be among the diseases to be investigated by researchers and clinicians from the UK, North America and Africa.
