Rowdy elements meekly sat down when told as the committee maintained firm control. Addressing his hushed audience, national president Douglas Trainer congratulated them on their stunning achievement of nearly keeping to the order paper. "We have held one and a half policy debates in one day," he told them admiringly. "It is not a victory for me but for the whole conference."
