Admissions tutors have hit out at proposals to reform the A-level points system. Under the plans, an A grade could become equivalent - in terms of points - to two rather than five E grades. Admissions tutors said this would limit fine tuning available to selectors.
Other options include making an A grade equivalent to three Es or retaining the present system.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service is consulting on the proposed changes, which are intended to allow points to be allocated to key skills, general non-vocational qualifications, and AS levels.
