A few weeks ago, we heard about students as victims of crime, but what about students as perpetrators?
A story doing the rounds - and we do hope it is not an urban myth - suggests that even when students do turn to crime, their academic work comes first.
The tale tells of a professor at Aston University who had just completed a viva for a PhD student and was startled to see the student promptly arrested as he left the room. It transpired that he had been about to be arrested before the viva, but had persuaded the long arm of the law to stay its hand until after the crucial interview.
Whether the student received his doctorate is not certain.
