Abertay anticipates genome demand

The University of Abertay, Dundee, is developing a forensic sciences degree to train a new breed of graduates capable of DNA profiling, genetic testing and analysing information essential in criminal cases.

Abertay believes it will be the first Scottish university to offer this kind of degree, bringing together skills in sciences, law and information technology. Abertay says that now the human genome has been mapped, there will be a rise in demand for graduates who can perform genetic testing, are skilled in molecular sciences and can interpret forensic data.
