The Association of Colleges is urging its members to write to the DFEE to oppose plans to cut the proportion of business representatives on boards from half to one third. In a letter it says: "The skills and experience of business members have been invaluable to corporations."

The campaign letter says: "We draw your attention to the second Nolan report, which suggested that governors should be selected on the basis of merit with as little categorisation as possible."
