STAFF in Scottish universities and colleges were this week expecting the results of a ballot on a revised pay offer which could signal the end of their industrial action. The dispute, centred on the 13 former centrally funded institutions, began after staff rejected a 2.5 per cent offer tied to changes in conditions of service. The employers revised their offer to 2.5 per cent backdated to last April, with a further 0.4 per cent payable on the conclusion of talks on conditions of service.
