Beijing offers MBAs with US recognition

四月 10, 1998

A Sino-US initiative announced by Beijing University should lift the number of Chinese-educated MBAs in the next few years.

With increasing numbers of Chinese firms entering the international market and international companies flooding into the Chinese market, demand for qualified management personnel greatly exceeds supply.

Beijing University will cooperate with more than 20 business schools from the United States to train MBA students. The university's China Economic Research Centre has a deal with the Consortium of International Education Institutions for the scheme.

The US business schools in the consortium include Fordham University, Georgetown University, Boston College, Loyola College, San Francisco University, Saint Louis University and Marquette University.

The first batch of about 60 students, both full-time and part-time, will be recruited this year. The MBA awarded will be recognised in China and the US.

A CERC official said this is the first programme approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee to award a US MBA degree in Beijing.
