The Chinese government has approved strategy and funding for the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the country's top scientific research body, to become the national natural science and high-tech innovation centre. Focusing on strategies for national economic and social development, CAS will promote itself as a world-ranking centre both for academic study and nurturing scientific talent.
