A student at Kings College London has won a prize worth Pounds 3,000 for inventing a system which brings email to people in their homes using their television sets. Alan Sutton devised software that runs on an interactive TV box, allowing people to send and receive email through the Internet without having to buy a PC. He beat third-year students from other universities in the ISRI Award competition run by the International Systems Research Institute, a charity which distributes cast-off office computers to educational establishments.
