BSE eclipses other dementia research

Government money allocated for BSE research would be "infinitely more useful" if it were ploughed into investigating other more common dementia conditions such as Alzheimer's, according to Bob Michell, London University's professor of applied physiology and comparative medicine. The Government is expected to spend Pounds 24 million on BSE research in 1997/98 compared with the Pounds 1.97 million spent on Alzheimer's research last year.
